I was up at Monte yesterday jiging for Kokanee, lots
on the fish finder down deep 60-80 feet. Did manage
to hook in to one 16 inches and about 5 inches wide
biggest Kokanee I’v ever caught sorry no pics.

Not too much action on the blog lately. I live in chilliwack but grew up in kamloops. Head down there on Tuesday an fishing/camping till Sunday. Think I will try Roche on Wednesday. And maybe swing over to tunkwa Thursday as I hear the chronimid fishing is really good there right now. Then camping at big ok ( island ) till Sunday. Just looking for some info on how the fishing is right now. Thanks

    • admin says:

Ya it usually slows down this time of year but with fall approaching should pick up again. The only lake around here that has been consistent is Tunkwa … and on the big chironomid bombers too! Good luck and please let us know how you make out.

  4. AJ says:

The fishing at tunkwa was fantastic today. Bomber chironomids hatching everywhere. We had the best luck on size 10 black/red ice cream cones as well as brown with a gold bead head. Lots of guys fishing, but everyone seemed to be into fish if they were using chironomids.

    • Fishinchicken says:

Thanks for the report. Other friend of mine tells me Roche is very slow right now so maybe straight to tunkwa I go. I would like to hit up a lake in kamloops as I will be there for Wednesday anyway. How’s jacko been lately?

  5. Fishinchicken says:

Fished island lake this week. We were into lots of fish up to 4 lbs. hooked up on chronies and micro leeches. Didn’t make it to tunkwa as fishing was good at island. Ill defiantly be back.

Heading to Kamloops next week; any suggestions for lakes?

    • admin says:

Sorry this is very late but most lakes around Kamloops are starting to pick up now. I have heard some OK reports from Heffley, Red, Roche, Horseshoe and Stump. And it should get better as fall progresses. As I mentioned in another reply fall fishing requires a lot of patients and long days on the water as feeding times are not so dependent on hatches. If you’re out there all day you will have a much better chance of hitting the feeding frenzies … usually 2 – 3 per day. If you don’t have all day I would gamble on mid afternoon on. πŸ˜‰

  10. BobG says:

Has anyone got some recent intel on Roche?
    Thanks

    • admin says:

The fishing at Roche has picked up and there are a good number in the shallows. Fall fishing is a bit different than spring fishing though in that feeding times are not so dependent on hatches. That means your best bet is to be on the water all day to ensure you hit the feeding frenzies … usually 2 – 3 per day. If you don’t have all day I would gamble on mid afternoon on πŸ˜‰ Good luck and please report back!

  11. fishaholic says:

This one was about 27″ long and pushing 10 lbs it was a good morning
I had just came off night shift. Worth staying up.

  12. AJ says:

Adams River mouth has some excellent fishing now. Lots of Sockeye and Chinook in the RIver which is good to see given the sockeye collapse 4 years ago. River is crowded with the parking lot at the mouth full of trucks. Some really disrespectful fisherman out there. A boat pulled in and anchored in the middle of the river outlet and blocked access to all shore fisherman. Another group walked down to the beach and proceeded to cast over everyones lines with bottom bouncing gear. Please show some respect to fisherman who have established a location!! Also for those fisherman down there, please give other fisherman a chance at the better spots. Hogging a spot for 6+ hours is not very cool. Saw a guy land a rainbow in the 10 lb + category.

    • admin says:

Yikes! Heard it was busy but that sounds worse than the Fraser with a Sockeye opening. How did you make out?

      • AJ says:

Got about a dozen rainbows and a few sqaw fish in a few hours. Mostly in th 2/3 lb range. A few bigger ones broke off. Guys at prime locations were hooking up every second cast. Probably go again in nov when crowds die down.

    • Kent Rowan says:

I habve never fished the Adams River mouth.

Can you cast a fly from shore or do you need a boat?

What flys work well or are lures the way to go?

      • AJ says:

Use trout beads on floating fly line. Make sure you put split shots to sink the egg pattern near the bottom. Cast into current near river mouth and let your pattern float over drop off into the lake. You don’t need a boat. If it gets crowded fish in the river upstream. You will need chest waders. Try a number of different colours of trout beads from orange to pink or tangerine. Good luck. It’s catch n release.

  13. Fishinchicken says:

Heading up to big ok(island) next weekend for one last camping trip. Any reports?

  14. blayne says:

  15. sully says:
