    • admin says:

hey Ollie thanks for the report! I haven’t fished Lodgepole for many years … might have to go take a look! Were you fishing adults or pupae?

      • ollie says:

Dry on top and a few Like just below. sedge pattern with mallared. The deer hair one wasnt working.

        Ollie

        • Todd says:

Any problems with the loons?? Last two times I went there (a couple years ago)the loons just followed me around and took almost all the fish I managed to get into. But I wasn’t getting into three pound fish though!!! Good for you, will have to get in there and check it out!

          • Wes says:

I have always had problems with the loons on this lake as well. they are very agressive and every time u hook into a fish u have to have your head on a swivel so you know where they are.

          • Ron W says:

I’ve had some epic battles with loons on that lake too. I’ve had the entire family circle within a foot of my tube like sharks waiting for me to release a fish. I also broke a rod tip fighting one of them.

          • ollie says:

they were there but a few pebbles and no problem, yes I know but ther just to distrack them not to harm them.

  2. admin says:

Fished Roche yesterday. Lots of chronies of all sizes hatching but predominately tiny stuff. The weather was spotty and so was the fishing. Tried all depths but did best with #14 lil black & red in about 18 feet. Bombers are starting to hatch but throat samples revealed that the fish are not really on them yet. I’ll be back on the first sunny day next week πŸ˜‰

    • admin says:

Went back to Roche today thinking it might have come on a bit more since Saturday … nope! Chronies of all sizes still hatching most everywhere (still mostly little guys but the odd bomber) but I only managed four fish over a couple hours. Pulled the plug and came home to tie flies … I’m sure I’ll need em sooner or later, right πŸ˜•

Had a lovely week at Peterhope. Nice lake to fish, very gracious and informative campground host. Lost a 5ish lber first night there, never got close to that afterwards. Lots of two pound beauties…very nice fat healthy fish. Weather was a bit offish…rain, wind, a thunderstorm….but I’d definitely go back. Lots of people fishing chronies, but never saw anyone with big fish. I know they’re in there, but they didn’t get big by being stupid. Did pretty well with black and red micro leeches and damsel and caddis nymphs. Pumped one fish, it was full of chromies and black chronies. Lovely spot, and closer than Roche for us LMers.

  4. Stevepd says:

Fishing Garnom next week with son. Any suggestions for week following ( must be guaranteed sunny). Maybe Creston area supposed to be sunny..

  5. Silver Fox says:

Was at Roche from May 27 to June 4. Met some fellows in a small black SUV with fly guys logo. They encouraged me to contribute so here goes. Roche fished well except last 2 days; Horseshoe was good giving up a 4 pounder; Black was OK, 8 fish in 12 to 14 inch range-smaller than expected after having fished there the last few years. Heading to Harom and Kane Lakes on Monday. Never fished there before. Any advice welcome.

    • Dawn says:

Fished Harmon a few weeks back…nothing too big but lots of nice fish on red and black leeches and damsels. Fish the far end near the private camp…saw lots of nice fish on the radar, but couldn’t hook one.
Apparently some real lunkers in Little Kane….never fished it but have heard good things.

      • Silver Fox says:

Thanks Dawn for interpreting my poor spelling of Harmon and for the info. Also forgot to mention that since I am not a chronomid fisher most fish at Roche, Black and Horseshoe were caught on a black or green horsehair nymph or a black micro leech with gold beed head and gold ribbing.

        • Dawn says:

LOL Silver Fox! I WANT to be a chironomid fisher, just can’t quite get the hang of it yet. So we do a lot of trolling of flies. There’s an Elks private campground at the end of Harmon, and there’s lots of fish in that bay, also in front of the boat launch right when you come in. And if it gets too windy, you can always fish the opposite end. That’s where we always camp. Always had pretty good luck in front of the weedbed there.
A small black SUV with a flyguys logo, huh? Wonder who that was??? πŸ™„ lol

  6. ollie says:

Ok well the south thompson river has been active, with the suckers, rainboos, and dollys but last night the burbots go figure. But its fishing.

    Ollie

  7. ollie says:

Well a bigg mess on the south thompson to day. Some brain tryed to sink his boat, it had a big motor on it and could not get the nose down saw it cone up and ath the stuff floating down. When will they know.
sorry guys but it is information boaters should know.

    Ollie

  8. Dawn says:

Any info on Glimpse? Was thinking about trying it out, whats it like this time of ?

    Sheridan Lake Report : June 7, 8 & 9 …

Arrived Friday at noon to a rain/wind storm. Set up camp and at about 2pm the weather calmed down enough that we decided to give it a go. The search for bugs revealed that they were sporadic and contained to small pockets of deep water and, logically, this seemed to be where the fish were. So, on went the HD sinkers and a the chronies went deep sea diving to 65 – 70 feet! It actually didn’t take long to get our first fish … a fat silver bow just over 3 lbs.

    [img][/img]

We managed 4 more in the next couple hours with the biggest at 7 lbs. The rest were almost perfect clones of JFM’s first one.

The weather for day 2 was supposed to be better than day 1 so we were optimistic. I think being a weatherman would be a great job … people almost expect you to be wrong and sure enough he was as the day was filled with rain and wind.

    [img][/img]

Despite that we managed another 5 fish and lost a real beauty after a long run and jump where she spit the hook!

    [img][/img]

Day 3 and the weather turned for the better! Unfortunately, we could only fish a few hours in the morning and in that window neither the bugs nor the fish wanted to cooperate so that was it for this trip. πŸ™

Planning to give it a week or so and head back up hoping the fish will have moved onto the shoals by then … stay tuned πŸ˜‰

  10. Brady says:

My dad and I took a trip in late May and fished Bulman and John Frank lakes near Roche and also spent an afternoon on Roche. We did not have much luck and are still trying to master chronomid fishing but we saw a few guys catching fish on Roche with chronomids. It also looked like the smaller lakes (Bulman and John Frank) were witner killed but I was not sure. We want to head back out in July and really enjoy going to some of the smaller lakes with less traffic and are considering a trip to Plateau or Dardannelles or have thought about trying Bulman again as we liked the lake and were not sure if it had winterkilled or not. Any info would be much appreciated.

Couple questions re Lac Le Jeune & Ridge lakes?

… any tips on what area to fish on Lac Le Jeune & I was wondering if you could drive up to Ridge?

    Thanks! πŸ™‚

    • ollie says:

which Lac Le Jeune BIG or small . small lk is best at the far end away from the big one, and the big one maraposse weed bed is a good spot πŸ™‚ many beds but locations are easy to show. And yes to drive to 2 of Ridge Lakes 3rd one you have to walk too. not sure many know about the 3rd one.

      Ollie

    • Ron W says:

I’d recommend that you avoid the wharf area on LLJ. Between the giant leeches, marauding loons and rampaging otters you will be lucky to leave with all your fingers, let alone a fish.

  12. jay moore says:

I’m going up to Alleyen lake for the long weekend with the family. I have never fished the lake before and was hoping to get some tips on what works this time of year. Any info would be great. Thanks guys.

    • ross says:

are you referring to Kentucky/ Alleyne?…I fish close by @ Bluey Lake…I always fish Chronomids there…Kidd Lake is just around the corner too…I haven’t fished Alleyne though

      • jay moore says:

I have fished kidd lake a few times but never kentucky alleyne. I have a family fishing Tournament and I’m looking for some tips

  13. fishinchicken says:

  14. steelneal says:

2 questions. Is Island Lk 2wd (minivan) accessible? Has anyone fished Tyner Lk? Was wondering about fish size in there, thanks in advance

    • Clyde Hartzog says:

I did take my wife and grandson there in the station wagon last year. Not sure if the road has changed. Might be smart to take throw in your chains. I did bottom out in a few spots… wife was a little shocked 😯 anyways, good luck.

    • Krazzzyk says:

Tyner lake is a decent lake to fish. Its very shallow except for a deep part thats in front of the cabins. Try a Red bead black and red leech. The fish I caught there were about 1-1.5lbs. Billy lake is a better choice or Antler.

      • steelneal says:

Thanks for the info Krazzzyk, heading to Island Lk monday, haven’t been out much, can’t wait!!!

  15. Newflyguy says:

I’m a new fly fisherman just been out a few times. Interested in stream/river fishing around the kamloops area. Is there fish in tranquille stream? If so any specific areas? Any other good streams to fish nearby? And finally where are some good areas along the south Thompson?

    • Clyde Hartzog says:

I am glad you have taken up an interest in fly fishing. Stream fishing around Kamloops is very limited. I would recommend starting at Walloper, that way you might catch something. πŸ˜‰ I wouldn’t recommend Tranquille, only thing you’ll catch in there is the rattlesnake flu. I tried to fish there once with my wife and grandson, unfortunately, grandma doris got bit. 😯

    • ollie says:
