Does anyone know how to fish green lake in the cariboo? We just bought a place on it and have had a heck of a time catching(or even finding for that matter) the fish! Thanks in advance.

    • krazzzyk says:

Don’t waste your time fishing Green lake, do some research online and the information you find will confirm this. Go Fish Watch lake its not to far and is an excellent lake to fish.

  2. Steve says:

Any reports out of the Kane Valley.
Boss,Davis,Harmon, any info would be much appreciated.

    • Dawn says:

Fished Harmon last weekend, caught 15 fish over two days trolling leeches, etc. Lost one big one due to an antsy dog in the boat… πŸ˜₯ Too windy for chronies. πŸ™

Red Lake Fishing Report for Mid May:

Strangely very few if any brook trout are being caught. Rainbow fishing can be hit and miss, but when it is on good fish up to four pounds are being caught. I personally hooked and lost one in the 6 to 7 lb class last Tuesday, so the big guys are still there, just can be very slow at times. Surface temp is sitting at around 56 – 59 F. Throat sampled or fish taken are reported to be full of shrimp. Size 14 or so black with white rib ice cream cone chironies on the surface. Although I have only fished it twice this year, if fishing with leech patterns they seem to be hitting black or maroon more than green or brown. Fish have been largely suspended at the 6 to 16 foot depth in 8 to 20 feet of water with most in the 15 foot water near bay mouths / channels / islands.

    Cheers,

    Darryl

Peter Hopeless fishing report … I know there’s big fish in there, now I just have to figure out where they are and how to catch them! 😐

OK it wasn’t all that bad … did catch a few but don’t think I broke 3 lbs. Kenny, on the other hand, put on a bit of a clinic deep sea fishing chronies.

    … I’ll be back!

  5. Lyle says:

Hi all, any recent reports out of Edith? Id like to go this Friday evening family, weather, and work permitting. If anyone is interested in a great spot for kids give Paul a try. We were there this past Monday and anchored on the shoal just off the dog beach in 6ft of water and had a blast. Nothing big but a lot of fun to keep the kids happy. Red ice cream cone.

    Red Lake Report …….

    [img][/img]

Lots of bugs hatching including bomber chironomid and the fish are starting to focus on them. Lot’s of feisty brook trout (taking almost anything) to 5 pounds!

    [img][/img]

Some rainbows also being caught … the Pennask implants from 2 years ago are very healthy and averaging about 3.5 pounds. Rumors is the odd Fraser Valley tank is still kicking around but the biggest we managed was a plump 6.5 that JFM hooked into.

If your just looking for action, head into the shallows and you should be able to pick up pan fry brookies all day long! πŸ˜‰

  7. Bryan says:

Does anyone know if Horseshoe Lake has turned and how is it fishing. Thanks for any reply

    • Rob says:

It has definitely turned but I do not have any reports of how it is fishing. There is one way to find out though πŸ˜‰

My Weekend Family Fish Out Report,

    Friday Evening:
We went to try Logan for another lunker, Immediately upon our arrival it was non stop action with the little guys 1-2lb range, They were feistier and hungrier than ever putting up some good fights for smaller fish. Nothing big but lot’s of fun. We bonked 2 and let the rest back to grow nice and fat for future fishing, One was empty and the other was stuffed to the gills with what looked to be size 10 or 12 all-black chiro’s.

Shyanne’s First Catch of the Day at Logan,
    [img][/img]

    Saturday Afternoon:
We headed up to Jacko, within five minutes of being there I was into a real lunker that did enough leaping and head shaking to slip off, and so it seemed we were off to a promising start. Later I realized that there were dozens upon dozens of fish all around me. But the majority of the fish are currently spawning and extremely difficult to hook into. If you walk along the shoreline you can literally see multliple schools of large bow’s cruising in 1-3ft of water. With limited success and very slow fishing we tried just about everything: many misc. flies, spinners and spoons (of all types), powerbait & worms etc… Still managed to catch a couple and lose even more, with a few bent hooks and Shyanne’s Biggest Bow Ever!!!:-D (which was LOADED with shrimp) It was the moment well worth waiting for, which made for a very memorable day (this one she had a hard time holding up for pictures, which you can tell by the expression on her face!!)

Tomorrow: One more surprise Lake to end a fantastic weekend!
    Tightlines Everyone!

    • Gord Brown says:

Evan , you killed a spawner!

      • Avatar photo Evan says:

Yes I realize this Gord, you’re not telling me anything I don’t know… for one it was caught with live bait and swallowed the hook so deep I wasn’t getting it out without hurting it badly or killing it anyway, I didn’t have much choice. Two it was my kid’s first big fish and three I plan on smoking the meat and eating it. Not like I intentionally go out and try to kill spawning fish, So aside from reproducing what is the big deal???

        • ollie says:

did that spawner have eggs and really who cares you had counted it in your daily limit. Buy the way Shyanne Nice one. your makeing other jealous

          Ollie

      • Art Vandelay says:

If you are fishing a wild lake (i.e. not stocked), then it is a big deal to kill a spawning fish as those fish are necessary to carry on the population. Jacko on the other hand, being a stocked lake, is fair game for keeping such fish if you so choose to eat a fish in that condition. Whether you bonk an old boot like that or a clean fish it makes no difference to the fish population in the lake.

  9. Troutboi says:

Fished lundbom on the weekend. Slayed on Sat. Deep on chrome/ red,chrome/ black chronies.40 fish, 2people. Most fish one and a half to two lbs. One was 3 lbs. Went back on Sun. Cold front.5 fish all day. Some days ya got it, some days ya don’t .

    • admin says:

Thanks for the report Troutboi! Ya isn’t that the way it goes sometimes … on fire one day and off like a light switch the next πŸ˜•

  10. Gunner says:

    Hi there
I’m heading up to kamloops for the day next Friday with my wife and was wondering if anyone could help me out with some advise on jacko. I’ve never fished there an we only have from 9 till around 4 as we are checking in to kamloops hotel for the weekend. I will have my boat so any help would be much appreciated.

    • Art Vandelay says:

If you like fishing chironomids then that 9 am to 4 pm timeframe should cover the primetime. Check out any of the bays within the lake and don’t be afraid to fish shallow (3 to 6 ft of water). Try and focus your efforts on areas where you see fish surfacing on bugs hatching.

      Good luck.

    • Rob says:

… and if the chronies aren’t popping, or the fish aren’t taking them, try suspending a leech πŸ˜‰

    • Avatar photo Evan says:

      Are you Flyfishing or Spincasting?

      • Joe says:

        He MUST be fly-fishing. He’s on FLYguys.net
A few mentions of bait are OK during the winter…..but we should keep it to fly-fishing here at this time of the year I think…?

        • ollie says:

Well Flyguys Im sure your not meaning to label how a guy fishes. just because I like to fly fish. I also like dragging a fly on a spining rod. And do know my others that like to drag Let it be a leech, shrimp or what have you. I also fish at night, dragging a big wooly bugger. Its not all about cronnies.

          Ollie

          • admin says:

lol not at all Ollie! We predominately fly fish trout but over the years we’ve done it all from gang trolls to draggin flies. As long as it’s legal the main thing is that your fishing & and havin fun! … fishguys just didn’t sound as good πŸ˜‰

    • Gunner says:

Thanks for the tips guys, yes I am a fly guy and I had planned to only have the day but luckily I got 3 days off instead and I will be hitting jacko Thursday, and Roche fri sat. This is a great web site and thanks again!!

      • Art Vandelay says:

If I were you I would hit Roche on Thursday/Friday and save Jacko for Saturday. Roche is the busiest lake on planet earth at this time of year and you would be wise to avoid the weekend if you can.

  11. Steve says:

    Hi Guys,
Heading up to Black lake near Roche this wekend any reports or ideas whats working would be great. I will report when i get back.
    Thnks

  12. Steve says:

Heading to Calling and Big OK (Island) on weekend anyone with any reports?

  13. Poge says:

went to Big OK and Calling last week end. The new route is not bad and not really any longer than before. the difference is you come up on Calling lake first. fished calling first day, lots of little ones. fished Big OK the next and was pretty slow but did hook up on a 6 lb, 2 -4lb, and 3 -1 1/2 on olive sedge pupa.

  14. Mark Y says:

Anyone been up to Murray yet through the south end – juliet bridge exit off of coq
I know the way in from the north is passable but wondering how the road is in from the south (trees or snow)

Might try Courtney or Kane (haven’t heard anything too great out of Kane for a while)

Heading up for a solo day – my buddies can’t make it!

  15. Steve41 says:

Hi, any reports from Black lake near Roche?
    Thks.
