Anyone know how monte is doing? Might head there tomorrow

  2. Buddy says:

I fished Beaton last night from five to seven caught a ton of fish. Only 3 to 5 feet of water left in the lake . Average size was one to three pounds all caught on shrimp

  3. MrFish says:

I had some family down from the coast for the weekend, and took them out for a hike and a little fishing at Deep today, Thanks to John for his report n pic, Sun was shining, Ice was melting and Fish were biting! Tried the Fly Rod for my First time, Couldn’t ask for a better day, except…

Upon coming back home, after dinner we found a wood-tick in the room with our gear n clothes crawling on the wall(SICK), so just a fair warning to everyone it’s that season again and they’re out there I just hope that it was the only one! Ice should be 100% off by sometime tomorrow at the rate it was melting, but water was rather gross, as if it is turning over already. On a lighter note, here’s a couple pics of the afternoon ice off progress and my bro’s gf Lindsay’s First Catch Ever! She was catching more fish than any of us, and did just Awesome for her first time!

Hiked out to Kamloops lake today with the kids. What a gorgeous day! The fishing was nothing spectacular but everyone had fun. We were spin casting spoons but there were chronies on the water and the one fish we bonked to eat was stuffed with them.

Anyone been out to pass or rouche ?

    • Art Vandelay says:

Whoa…now you are getting ahead of yourself. Neither of those lakes will be open for at least 2 weeks, provided that the weather stays warm; longer if it doesn’t.

    • Darryl says:

Last week of April would be my guess.

  6. Ken says:

Out at 6 mile Sunday, I caught a few and some were were doing well. It is in turnover and the water in murky. Heading to Stump this morning, heard it is very close to ice off.

    • doug says:

drove by stump yesterday. 15 – 20 around the edges open except ranch end, it is about 1/2 k open.

      • Ken says:

You are right, fished it today, north end completely open. Did well, catching a couple 5-6 pounders. Did notice lots of weeds being blown in, not sure if that is normal for so soon after ice off.

  7. Fishpimp says:

Just came back from Edith. Ten more days and it should be fish able. Also the lakes water level is the highest I have ever seen it since the mid 80s. Bodes well for some potentially good fishing this year. Let’s just hope they don’t over stock it and wreck a good lake like they have done to six mile and a few others.

    • Art Vandelay says:

They overstocked the life out of it between 2008 and 2010. The last two years has returned to normal stocking so we may see some decent fish there again in the next couple of years.

Stumped at Stump today … and most others I saw were having the same issue … fishnobitealitus! 😐 Touched 2 fish all day. Pumped one and confirmed damsels but couldn’t get a sniff on one. Heard Mr. Chan was on the water working miracles … if anyone deserves it it’s him! Was nice to meet a few guys that visit the site on the water and at the launch … sorry was in a hurry and forgot to look for decals in the truck so please email me πŸ˜‰ Was also the nicest day weather wise I think we’ve had this year! I think it will be a while before we see an Easter weekend like this one was!

    • Dave says:

It was nice to meet you at the Stump launch.
After speaking to Brian, he told us he was using micro leeches in black and in greens.
I hooked two fish, one on a Damsel, other on a dark green chiro.
That was the calmest water I have ever experienced on Stump!

      Dave

        Thanks for the report!

Hey heard you guys talking a mentoring program … what a great idea! If you ever need some bandwidth to promote it you’ve got my support! πŸ™‚

    • ollie says:

? for ya, one for stump lk. Is there kooknee in the lake or do they get a kill through- out the winter. I see Its been stocked for the last 4 years.

      Thank you Ollie

    • Simon says:

Was nice to meet you too! And yes, I want one of those treasured decals! I touched nothing for the first 3 hours or so but when I moved closer to the boat launch in tight to the shore I had a few nice hits on small olive/brown damsels and landed a dandy Stump Lake bow!! I haven’t fished Stump for a VERY long time and I’m looking forward to getting back asap.

Awesome day on the Fraser river today caught 4 different species of fish today all on roe

    • ollie says:

John you say you got 4 different species. besides the sturgen , im guessing rainboo, whitefish, burbet too or please tell me what they were.

      thank you

      Ollie

hows salmon lake doing thanks guys

  11. Flyfishaholic says:

Hi all, just wondering what the best guess for jacko is?

    • Art Vandelay says:

Oddly enough it looks to be at least a week away. I made the hike in yesterday and was quite disappointed by the lack of progress.

  12. brent says:

Monte lake is completely ice free. Caught 2 rainbows in the bay near the train tracks saturday afternoon

  13. Dawn says:

Anyone heard anything about Sawmill? Don’t really wanna catch that nobitealitis bug that’s going on at Stump!!! Either way, heading out SOMEWHERE this Thursday…gotta get a fish fix in!!!
    Thanks!

    • admin says:

Don’t be discouraged by my last Stump lake report Dawn. I have a feeling that location was the issue and we just weren’t where the fish were that day. The guys that had luck with micro leeches were in a different area than us and one fellow I talked to had luck with damsels in another area. Trick is to move until you find the fish! Unfortunately for me I was motorless that day (what was I thinking going to Stump with just a set of oars 😳 ) so didn’t really have the ability to move that far … lesson learned!
