Just a small follow up on stump from this past weekend. As of Saturday night remainder of ice on south end was breaking up really good to the point fishing is possible by snaking the shore to it. Windy on Friday and Saturday proved to be a challenge for fishing, we managed to find some calm water up from the rec site and even though there were numerous chron hatches and the conditions were perfect the fish were just not in shallow water. Not even a beep on the fish dar. About 6 or 7 boats we saw in total and from what I could make out no one had much of any luck. This weekend coming will be ideal conditions on either end if that wind keeps it’s distance. Fishin chikin and I will be out agin this weekend. Hope to see ya out there!!!
Stump was windy as always Monday afternoon, but was able to bring this one to the boat. It is slower fishing than last year for sure.

Nice!
Caught wind of a rumour Six mile was 90% off yesterday, if that’s true with these high winds today it should be fully iced off by sometime today
I fished 6 mile today and it was fully iced off, slow fishing and windy but hey. Can’t image Morgan isn’t as well.
Is stump full ice off yet?
Yeah it is. Was there yesterday.

Is jacko fishable yet?
Fished Jacko on monday April 14
Slow with short bursts of activity. Really short. I caught 5 using a flashback pheasant tail in shallow water, my friend caught about the same using a micro leech. Lots of boats on the water mainly fishing the deadwood bay.
Saw loads of dead glassworms floating on the top. Is this common? Nothing else hatching and very few risers.
Fish I caught were a couple lbs, one was close to 6 (looked like a spawning sockeye) but it broke me off after a couple of spectacular jumps, two runs into the weeds and a mud bath!
White Lake is off with some ice along the shore in certain spots …

and here’s Jacko yesterday evening …

shouldn’t be too much longer now! π
As of 8 pm last night the ice from shore out to the big rock on the left was all gone!!
Anyone have any info on courtney, lundbom or peterhope. Planning on doing a trip on easter long weekend. I heard salmon lake is off. Maybe i will go there.
I would be surprised if Peter Hope is open by the Easter weekend, but Courtney and Lundbom should be ready by then.
I would like to go back to Courtney Lake I got a six and a half pound trout out of there last year
Looking at that photo of Marquart that was just posted below it is very likely that Courtenay will be free of ice within a few days.
Jacko at 1 today about half off with most the ice on the south side. Saw a couple little fish caught but should be 100% off by the end of the weekend depending on how many guys go ice breaking tomorrow.

Is the ice off or close to off at Campbell and Scuitto
I would be extremely grateful If someone could provide info on Campbell Lake (ice off)
I haven’t been up there but I am guessing that it won’t be open quite yet. That being said, I would pretty much bet my house that it will be off in time for the Easter weekend.
Just wondering if any one has any reports from white lake? I’m heading up there in a couple days and hoping it hasn’t started to turn yet. Any reports would be much appreciated!! Thanks
Could be bad news Gunner just got an email from a bud saying the fishing was slow and the water murky π
I was there Sunday, and it was slow. Lots of white goo in the water. Managed a few fish, but it was a grind.
Thanks for the updates guys!
Any peterhope reports out there? Would like to hit both peterhope and Campbell this weekend. Didn’t think Campbell would be ice off just yet but art bet his house on it so I hope it is.
I revoke the bet! Campbell may not be ready in time for the Easter weekend, but it will open up over the Easter weekend (i.e. it will be off by Easter monday).
Went for a drive up to Scuitto and Campbell today both should be ice free in the next week

Those photos indicate that Campbell and Scuitto will be ice-free within a matter of days. I would bet that ice is totally gone by Sunday.
Is the road passable to Campbell Lake??
Fished south-end of Stump this morning. Horrible weather – rain, wind, and more wind. Fished for 4 hours and not a single strike. Used leech and damselfly patterns. Lots of fish popping up on the finder. Signs that the lake may be gearing up for turnover. My guess is today was the first day of turnover. Water mostly clear (could make out bottom in 8 feet of water), but lots of floating weeds and debris popping up.
Cheers,
Darryl
Darryl,
We fished Stump on Thursday with about the same results. Did not mark any fish on the South end only on the North end. We tried all the bays on the East side of the lake with no luck and finally got blown off at 2:00 pm. What was the water temperature when you were there? On Thursday it was 40 degrees F.
DonB,
Hi, sorry to hear you had the same bad luck. That wind can be horrible on that lake. The water temperature was 47 F. Some fish caught this year at Stump, but based on the forum chatter, it does not appear to be as good as last year’s first week or so off ice-off.
Cheers and good luck,
Darryl
