    • Avatar photo BCFlyguys says:

You know what I have not seen a report on it yet but would bet money it’s open … at least enough to fish it. Anyone else hear anything on White???

    Did anyone fish last weekend?
I thought this board would be flooded with reports.
I’m heading up from Richmond this sat and mon.  Reports of ice off are much appreciated.
    Edith?
    Jacko?
    Stump?

    • Art Vandelay says:

Mark, the answer is no to all three lakes as of right now.  It is 18 degrees and windy right now in Kamloops though so damage is being done to the remaining ice cover.
Your choices for this weekend are likely going to be limited to 6 Mile, Morgan and White (Salmon Arm). There is a chance that Stump could be fishable…Jacko, very remote chance and Edith, no chance in hell.  People were ice-fishing Edith this past weekend and may still be doing so…

Thinking of taking a drive up Merritt way from Chilliwack in the next week or so. It can get windy there, so fishin poles crossed… But any reports from maybe Kane Valley or Pike Mountain areas would be much appreciated.

Also, the ads at the top of these pages don’t go anywhere except to an ad for single Ukraine or Asian women, maybe a truck ad, but nothing at all about fishing reports or fishing spots like they say… Thought I’d mention….

    • Art Vandelay says:

Kane Valley and Pike Mountain unlikely to be ready for next week (but with the recent weather insanity, i.e. 20 C yesterday) who knows!  If i were you i would check Courtenay first as it will open before the Kane lakes…

Checked the ad links at the top of the page … they all went to fishing related site options. Google ads is interesting as it presents ads based on the viewers browsing (search) patterns … lol not saying that single Ukrainian and Asian women and trucks is your thing. Thanks for letting me know though πŸ™‚

wondering about access to white? Accessible by 4×4 truck?

    • Art Vandelay says:

To White Lake near Salmon Arm?????? You could get there in a limousine if you wanted to…paved the whole way except for the route to the Rec Site which is good quality dirt road if memory serves me correctly.

    Thanks for the reply.

I e-mailed Corbett lodge and 71/2 diamond lodge as they are in the neighborhood of my fave lakes and they both anticipate about 2 – 3 weeks from now. But like you said Art, who knows. A rainy system moving in this weekend combined with the freakishly warm temps… I know I’ll be up a solid month earlier than last year for sure.

It’s 20 degrees tomorrow here in Chilliwack, so for now, will fish our own backyard… Good little lake with some Blackwater Rainy’s up Harrison west fsr… nothing froze up there this year.

Got into them last weekend with chironomids and caddis nymphs. Mosquitos, mayflies and moths flying around up there. It’s crazy… like it’s late May and June fishing!!

Today the ads showed me fishing stuff and maps….sheesh, you look up something one time….lol.

Burnell lake aeration restarted! However rumours going around Roche had another winter kill? Any truth to that?

    • Art Vandelay says:

There is no way to know that with absolute until the ice is off…even if there was some winterkill there are going to be some lunkers kickin’ around in there this season!
