I am planning on heading to Red lake this coming weekend. Just wondering if anyone has been there that could give a report on what’s been working? I haven’t been there in a lot of years.
Lac Le Jeune open as of today. Including the small lake. Q
and the video ……. π
Fished harmon yesterday in the blizzard of snow an hail..still managed a couple average sizes but fishing was slow of coarse but still nice to get out with the boy.
Heading to Tunkwa for the day this Saturday. Bringing up a newbie who wants to learn how to chironomid fish. Hoping for some helpful info from someone who is or was up there recently – mid size and areas. I know that lake pretty well and it is often obvious where the fishing has been good, just follow the congregation of boats but any info is always helpful.
Has it turned yet?
was there on the weekend-fished well with the lake in good shape with good clarity.
be prepared to use #16 & #18 sizes as the hatches are very small in size.
good luck.
thanks
shallow water i suppose?
hopefully the road will be ok
The lake is not low, quite the opposite.
It’s high.
I’d email the resort to make sure the road into the lake is good before you go.
We went last weekend and the turn off was a river that was blocked. We had to use the pipeline road.
Hi Mark,
This is Derek. How was your weekend? Hope it went well! Spotty weather I suppose? If you have time, please text me (778) 538-0465 to catch up. Thanks.
Fished Tunkwa last couple of weekends. It is fishing strong with lots of smaller fish to 16″. Need to move around to find the bigger ones 18 – 20″. At times it seemed everything you threw at them worked – chironomid sizes 16 – 12 and every colour. Felt most confident with asb and red or black rib and black with silver rib. Also fished Leighton, much more difficult (still productive) and fish averaging 18″. Key times are the good ol 10 – 2pm.
Will be up at Tunk again this weekend
Multiple Double headers about a week ago! Small leaches and cronies greyish bodies with red rib and green rib. Check out the barrberry cronie on you tube shhhhhhh;)
Has anyone been up to Kidd yet?
Was there a week after ice off – Windy day. Didn’t even see one rise so left around 2
Hey I’m new to the post. Looking foreword to getting out fishing, but been way to busy. Has anyone been out to Frogmore or Rosemore do you know if you can get in and the lakes are ice free. Thank you. Bill
They should be ice-free by now or very close. Be aware that the roads are going to have a lot of water pooling on them with possible washouts and other nastiness.

Wow, thanks for that Rob!
Did they fix the wash outs at Sylvester creek on the red lake road and Beaton road as well as tunkwa back road?
The culvert on the way into Roche lake is close to being washed out. Left there this morning, didn’t look good.
Fished roche today culvert wasn’t looking good in the morning but road crews fixed it up in the afternoon. Despite being extremely wet the fishing was fantastic very small chronomids popping #16 silver rib zukes, and balanced ruby eyed leeches in 6 ft water was the ticket for me today . All nice footballs with one pushing 5 lbs!! great day on the water
Hey Guys;
Fished Stump on Thursday, the 4th. Water high and dirty. Better south then north. Couldn’t find any fish. Water temp already 60* Went to White on Friday. Water in good shape as are the fish. No bugs. Attractor patterns worked ok in 30 feet of water. Nothing in the shallows. Then Bleeker on Saturday. Water was brown. Fish were in 5 to 7 feet of water. Got blown off by 2pm. Used very bright Chronies. Did ok. Roche on Sunday. No bugs. We had a dozen fish each on attractor patterns, brown and black. Nice fish to 23″
Any updates on access up to Red would be very much appreciated.
