  2. kjudson86 says:

Any one been out to red yet. Prolly a little early but worth asking.

    • wayne says:

Red and Edith are close in elivation usually when Edith is off red isn’t far behind. Another 10 days or so yet would be my guess

I was driving by Courtney on my way home stopped to have a look. Also stopped at Kidd. I live in West Kelowna and I’m heading out to find some open water and willing to drive to Kamloops if I have to any suggestions out there??

    • danflyfish16 says:

6 mile is probably your best bet close to kamloops, otherwise white lake or even shuswap will produce fish right now.

  4. coastlogger says:

    Kidd

Hey everyone. First timer here! I’m planning on heading to Phillips tomorrow. How has it been? Also does anyone know if the ice is off skmana?

Stump today. Looks completely ice off but I couldn’t see the far south end. Only fished about an hour. Somehow caught one fish in a wind storm and then got blown off ๐Ÿ™

one of my favorite fishing stories takes place on Stump Lake….it is in the gilly….and talks about a Jack Shaw damsel….stories keep me going…

  7. Don says:

Hi Flyguys. Does anuone know the dates of the Kamloops Boat Show for this year? Thanks

  8. Dawn says:

Hi fly fisherpeople!!!! Can someone tell me what’s open in the Merritt/Kamloops area?? 4 days off!!! WOOHOO!!!! Lemme outta here!!!! Trying to convince hubby….might not take the trailer if someplace sounds promising……could do an overnighter in a nearby motel……haven’t done that in forever. Like, NEVER!!! I’m up for an adventure…..need to catch me a trouty or two!!! Thanks!!!

    • wayne says:

      Try wollaper lake

    • Avatar photo NymphOManiac says:

      Dawn,
Judging by the pics here of Courtney and Kidd near Merritt, It’s safe to say no Kane Valley lakes are open yet either – Merritt area usually mid to end of April…
Best bet is to head to Kamloops me thinks.
But have a look at Logan Lake on your way through. It’s aerated so you never know…
And please share some pics of lakes you check out too.

      • Tom says:

I live in Logan Lake. It is going to be a while yet before ice-off., Though I have not seen it, Walloper Lake is still probably good for ice fishing!

Hi Dawn, Kamloops options are still very limited to: Kamloops, Six Mile, Morgan, Stump, and as of a couple days ago Jacko. Today’s report from Jacko was fish in the shallows on micro leeches and the chronies must be popping at Six/Morgan by now. If the wind lets you Stump has some lunkers in it. Good luck where ever you go! Looking forward to your report!

      • Dawn says:

Thanks all! Well being that the Coq looks like Northern Alberta, I think we’re going to stay home and try a local just for fun. Only been to Hicks once, in an inflatable, in a wind storm….a bit sketchy to say the least. Don’t want to head up to Kamloops with very limited options, will save my money and vacay time for when I can really enjoy myself. Will let you know how we do!!

        • Dawn says:

Not even a sniff at Hicks!! Only ones catching anything were the worm people, and tiddlers at that. Was a lovely day, though, and nice to get out on the water.

Scuitto at its best as of March 24th 2016

    • Dawn says:

Went there for our first trip with our little trailer a few years ago. Love the variety of areas to fish in that lake. Met some very helpful people there. We were new fly fishers then, would like to think we’ve learned something since then. lol Think I might head back there for a weekender this year.

  10. Mike Green says:

How’s white lake fishing? At phillips now and not a damn bite. Lots of boats on the water and haven’t seen 1 fish hooked. Going to head to white to see what’s up there. Any feedback is awesome.

  11. Avatar photo BCFlyguys says:

Another day at Stump. Not a ton of fish but the weather was perfect and the lake was glass, not something you see often at Stump! Still no cronies popping so I started with micro leeches and didn’t have to change. Throat samples revealed immature damsels, which made sense that the olive micro out fished the black. All of today’s fish were clean and ranged in size from 22″ – 27″. I don’t bonk many but momma said bring home a fresh fatso for good Friday dinner so …

    • Avatar photo Steve41 says:

What end of the lake were you fishing? Weather looks good this upcoming week, going to try and head up Thursday. Any advice would be great ๐Ÿ˜‰
      Thanks

      • Avatar photo BCFlyguys says:

Have had good luck at both ends. Two tips … 1) move until you find fish, 2) damsels! Although, black, brown and red micro leeches have been working as well. Here’s today’s best …

Roche … Just starting to get soft on the edges:

Kinda off topic but does anybody know if snow tires are required on the Coquihalla after March 31st
Thinkin of going to a lake by Merrit or kamloops. Will post pics and give you guys an update if I do
    Thanks

  14. Tom says:

    Sorry guys,
My source let me down – – Gardom Lake was entirely ice free as of March 21st.

  15. bcflyfisher86 says:

I live in logan lake and work in merritt.. mamit will be ice off by next weekend.. the aerator on logan is melting the bay and shoreline shouldn’t be more then 7-10 days with warm weather coming.. kane valley area is still being ice fished regularly. That should change in a week maybe two to three weeks to ice off. Tunkwa was showing melt along the edges but looked like it’s starting the rot hoping some bays will be open next weekend.
