fished monte lake this morning for kokanee with my brother and a friend. lots of ice but it was slow fishing, only caught two the whole morning. saw lots up very shallow 5-10′ and got some video of a red spawning phase kok making multiple shallow passes by the hole, as well as one of the fish we caught. here the video.

Hows the fishing at Red lake been lately, I was skunked last time up there.Been fishing Rose and Tulip Lake the last 3 week with good success with some brookies in the 2 plus pound range , but Red is my favorite brookie lake

    • Avatar photo BCFlyguys says:

All recent reports have been putting Red at SLOW. But, you always have a chance for very nice bows & brookies there so …..

Good news re Rose/Tulip! Are they fairly steady action?

  3. Evan says:

Fished Rose today, slow but I was impressed with the size of some of the brookies. Pic below is 2+lb’s and was not the biggest of the day.

Couldn’t make it out in the morning but did have a couple hours this afternoon so we checked out Rose & Tulip and got the big fat zero! πŸ˜₯ There were some fresh holes and a bit o blood so hopefully some of you had some success in the morning.

This ought to get your blood pumping …

    Guess the lake?

  6. Evan says:

I’m hoping someone could maybe help me out on some an update on for Horseshoe or even Knouff?

(and if no ones gonna say it)… Red Lake! ; )

    • ollie says:

Evan : Knouff would be my pick but you may have to wait for the big ones. Spots up there beside the Island across from the forestry camp ground or the other side of the sunkin Island. And you do know the bait.
      good luck and tight lines
      Ollie

      • Evan says:

Yeah, thanks Ollie, i figured the island Would be best, I’ve never ice fished there before so I thought I’d give it a go, will report back this weekend

  7. Harrison says:

Edith is slow but productive, usually leave with some keepers

  8. Fishinchicken says:

Anyone been up to rose this past weekend? Gonna head up there this weekend I think.

  9. Mohammed says:

Thinking of going ice fishing this weekend, anyone know where’s been good or where my best bet would be?

  10. Nick says:

Quick report from Edith Lake this morning:
    COLD COLD COLD!!!!!!!!!!!

My augur separated on me so there is now a blade sitting on the bottom of the lake if anyone feels like going scuba diving, it’s yours haha

    Hi Ollie
We met at Edith Lake on Saturday Feb. 8th. You were trying to remember some sort of fishing that was going on in Ontario. Has naything come to mind yet??

    • ollie says:

Lumberjac : Hello the fish that I was talking about were Splake and there cross bred from the female lake trout and male brookies . Wild TV Network was the TV Channel I got it from.
