Wondering why this site and other fishing forums have slowed down so much in last year. Seemed like couple years ago there was way more comments here and at other forums.

I don’t sense a decline in people fishing. We have may long weekend coming up and lots of people must have trips planned. I’m heading back up to chilcotin and gonna try a new lake on one of the days. Lake is bigger then I usually fish but has good potential.

Love to hear about other trips planned. Regions your hitting or specific lakes. Sheridan and dragon must be done turnover so should be good.

The short answer is social media pages πŸ™ But we continue to keep this post going yearly to provide an alternative so thanks for contributing Chaluga! πŸ™‚

More and more people are reluctant to post as it’s usually a barrage of: which lake are you at, what part, what exactly are you using. Way too many keyboard fisherman not willing to do their own leg work.

A post on an open forum(where any and all can see) regarding a specific lake with a big fish that isn’t well known and I’d bet good money the next weekend there’d be more traffic than usual.

I love how Flyguys post photos but with strategic background or blurring the background. Usually a photo of a throat sample too.

It shows the experience but protects the spot so that others have to spend the time and effort hunting down the treasure.

It’s a bit of a balance act to provide as much info as possible while at the same time trying to protect smaller waters that would be negatively impacted if it were posted. Not sure we get it right all the time but we definitely try πŸ™‚

Flyguys this is the best flyfishing page on the internet. I have had the pleasure of being the first member to log in to the new page every year for I think 4 years. I read this forum every day and I agree with Chaluga! about the readership in the last few years.
But I guess we have to advertise word of mouth more strongly. I tell everyone that I run into at Surplus Herby’s. since its the only source left in town. am, happy to see that other members recognize the issue and spread the word!!!!! thanks for the opportunity to use this forum.

Thanks for the answer flyguy. Instagram for me is boring for fishing forums. No info shared except pics of monster trout somewhere near Kamloops.

I’ll keep posting here even if the masses are elsewhere. ??

Heading to a hwy 24 lake in early June that I have been to before…I’ve got a week off work …will try the area of the lake where we caught the big one last time we were there

  3. Chaluga says:

What I like is hearing about people’s fishing experience. A pic holding a big fish with monster pennask is boring. I’d bet most of the large trout shown on Instagram are in private lakes.

I would like an option here to send pm message to users. might be too hard to tweak for the site.

I see the post often about doing the legwork to find lakes. I don’t like that statement for a couple of reasons.
    1) lots of people (myself included) live in lower mainland and don’t have 20 lakes within an hour to check out. It’s a 3 hour drive at least for me to a decent lake. Over the last 4 years I have tried around 140 lakes in bc. This has cost.me about 20k dollars. I’ve went from muncho to charlie to white to nimpo. Each time gas, food and most of the time accommodation.

I feel a responsibility to help others who can’t afford to do this. No I won’t give away my best lake but there are plenty of good spots I’ll suggest. Most are found in bcadventure lake site or backroad maps

    Here’s some good ones

I only have so many weekends left with my 16 year old son before he goes off to university and then we fish couple times a year. I know many other people in same boat. A weekend fishing trip with no bites isn’t a lot of fun .

Wish more would share( not your secret spot) . Love.to hear about ones that got away.
