April 20, 2010:
Had a bit of time to kill today so I took a quick trip to Morgan lake. For those that don’t know Morgan lake is about 20 minutes west of Kamloops on highway 1 west. At just over 1800 feet it’s a fairly low elevation lake and this year has already been ice free for about 2 months!
Today was alright but nothing spectacular. I ended up bringing in 9 and lost a bunch. Very nice fish but they sure didn’t put up a good fight … perhaps they’re tired from all the catch & release over the last 2 months! The average size was about 2 1/2 pounds.
Anyways, overall it was a good day with lots of small chironomids hatching. I caught all my fish on the smallest green chironomid I had – about a size 16 I’d say. I was by myself in my boat so I just got one shot of the rod with a fish on.
