Shark’s Caddis Larva

The Shark's Caddis Larva Fly Pattern

Developed by Radoslav Kiskinov, the Shark’s Caddis larva fly pattern is a very simple and realistic fly imitating the Caddis larva.  It’s main trait is the body of twisted Antron yarn with hare’s fur. It’s main purpose is to catch fish – which it does very well when the trout are on the sedge larvae!

Here’s how to tie it:

Material

Hook: Curved (any kind of model for Caddis patterns)
Thread: Black
Head: Gold bead to match the hook size
Body: Yellow Antron yarn and hare’s underfur dubbing hair
Thorax: Two peacock herl (or dark brown Antron)

Step by Step Tying Instructions

... place bead on hook & start the thread.

... tie in Antron wool & wind it down to hook bend.

... wind Antron to bead & back to build up a foundation.

... split the yarn

... place Hare dubbing between split Antron.

... twist it together (like a dubbing loop) and .......

... wind it forward and tie it off.

... tie in some peacock herl & form a head.

....... whip finish and your done!

and that’s it folks … the Shark’s Caddis Larva!
